Display problems after updating windows
Under certain rare circumstances it is possible to upgrade the graphics card in a laptop, but it’s seldom worthwhile doing so. As you might imagine, you’re not the only person wishing to get Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 running on an older laptop and there are tricks that can be employed to fool the graphics driver installer into working on your hardware. You could try searching the forums of a site such as forums.laptopvideo2to see if anyone has found success with the combination of your particular laptop and Windows 8.1.I have updated my Windows 10 to the latest version. After update I can’t see any text in explorer (no folder and file names), only icons are shown. On the other hand, the new settings menu is working as well as menu start. So when a model is no longer sold, there is often little incentive for the vendor to keep on producing driver updates for it.As an example, the Ge Force Go 7800 isn’t listed on Nvidia’s list of GPUs supported under Windows 8.1 nor Windows 10.However, after the installation all my programs went missing from the Start Menu with the exceptions of the “stock” apps and those apps I installed from the MS store.I just installed the windows 10 Creators update with the upgrade assistant tool because I was eager to get it.
I made sure every shortcut and underlying app is configured to be run as Admin, more-so, I played around with the Services authorization (using local admin vs System, etc), all to no avail.
The update to Windows meant it downgraded to the Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor, which ruined the previously clear picture.
It doesn’t even seem to see the Nvidia processor any more.
Some users who upgraded their PCs to Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Windows 10 Creators Update or Windows 10 Fall Creators Update have been reporting various random problems.
The actual number may be very small, but we are listing below some of them which can be found here in our comments as well Reddit & the Microsoft Answers Forum.
